By plane

Stavanger airport, Sola, is situated 15 km southwest of Stavanger town centre, about 20 minutes by car or bus. You can fly directly between Stavanger and a total of 46 scheduled and charter destinations in Norway and abroad.

By boat

The ferry between Hirtshals in Denmark and Stavanger/Bergen is operated by Fjord Line. Updated info on schedules and fares is to be found at www.fjordline.eu.

The ferry from Hirtshals in Denmark to Kristiansand (230 km south of Stavanger) is operated by Color Line, see www.colorline.com. Train and buses are operating from Kristiansand to Stavanger.
A number of express-boats operates the coast and the fjords.

By bus
Long distance express buses operates from Oslo, Kristiansand and Bergen. Check info on schedules and fares at www.nor-way.no and www.kystbussen.no. The cheapest fare at present is with Konkurrenten (Oslo - Kristiansand), www.konkurrenten.no.

By train

Long distance train from Oslo via Kristiansand to Stavanger, about 8 hrs. Info om schedules on www.nsb.no.

By car
From Oslo: take main road E 18 to Stavanger, distance 535 km, about 8 hrs. Toll road.

From Kristiansand: take main road E 18 to Stavanger, distance, 232 km, about 3 hrs 30 min. Toll road.

From Bergen: take main road E 39 to Stavanger, distance 207 km, about 4 hrs 15 minutes. Toll road and two ferry crossings. Please note that ferries have fewer departures between midnight and 6 am.

Important:

Please consider the weather conditions when driving in the winter (nov - march). Do not drive on ice and snow without proper winter tyres. Drive with great carefulness. Frontlights are mandatory, day and nights, even in summer.
